Rear reading lights (Update, they work)
Here'* my theory. If you don't see any burnt wires then check the connectors. Add a little dielecric while you are there. So far most of the electrical gremlins in my car were solved with a little contact cleaner and some dielectric grease.

Here'* a part of the car that doesn't get much attention. The connector seen in the upper left corner of the headliner is behind the A pillar trim. There is only one orange (+12v) and one white (switched ground from doors or interior lamp relay) wire in this connector which means that all splices are within the headliner harness. After being very aquainted with the wiring harnesses in these cars, I find it hard to think that the problem is in the splices
So the driver side A-pillar. But the connector isn't the problem, since the front lights still work. It doesn't look like the rear light wiring branches don't break out at the same point. Is there any place in that harness that is just for the rear lights? I suppose the whole headliner has to drop to check this out, am I right?
At some point, the orange and white wires split into 6 branches each: two rear lights, two front lights and two visor lights. I haven't removed the tape to physically see where the splice is located. It is more like branches from one location rather than an "in and out" from one light to another.
The harness is taped and stapled to the headliner so it would be difficult and potentially damaging to pull the wires out so you can test.

I came across 3 splices:
Orange splice is just before the 4-way intersection at upper left corner
Black splice is just after the 4-way intersection at upper left corner (this is just the grounds for the switches to manually turn the lights on)
White splice is just before the several branches to the center module. Right where the white tag is.
