i'm replacing the power steering pump on my brother'* L27 equipt '94 Bonneville SSE (my old car). it does not have 'T2V' option EVO steering, so thankfully (for him) it should be cheaper to replace. anyway, the job looks like cake, but i have one question;

should i bother buying one of those cheap in-line screen filters that go into the return line? are there any adverse affects to using these (like lower flow/pressure etc)?

The P/* system is a closed-loop system. I just this past weekend replaced the gearbox in my suburban. Before I did anything after I got the nex box in, I ran the engine and poured new oil thru the pump with the engine running, and put a catch pan on the return line, getting all (or just about all) of the old oil from the system.

No filter needed, IMO.

yup, i do the same, well worth the trouble to get all that old crap fluid out! i won't bother with the filter then. only $2 but i see it as a gimmick i guess.

Use good P/* fluid It'* worth the little extra money
