Default Probably not good...

Was accelerating out of a corner this weekend and transmission popped out of gear and was followed by some grinding and rattling sounds. Is my transmission toast? I have no reverse, drive will grab a little bit but not much. I didnt want to drive it anymore for fear of breaking more stuff. When engine idles I get a rattle coming from tranny. I

If this thing tranny is toast what can I expect to spend to have it rebuilt?? thanks for any insight.

The tranny is dead, the rattle at idle is junk in the oil pump, expect to pay $2000 for a full rebuild. They will salvage what they can.

yep Tranny is fried. I found a guy who will install one for $275. Now just need to find a used tranny. Anyone know what tranny is in the 1995 SSEi? There is probably a model or name of the transmission I would guess??? thanks for your help. This is turning into a real headache for the family!

Ohh and is this tranny the same that would be used in other GM models of this era? park aves, olds 88'* etc... thanks again.

your trans is a 4T60-E(HD?) It was used in all 3800 SC cars (PA Ultra, Rivira..ect)

the only thing you might want to watch for is that you get the correct gear ratio, as GM had a number of different combo'*...

FREEZE.

Only a trans from a 94/95 SSEi will work without modifications. I can't speak for the PA Ultra or Riviera. Use www.car-part.com to locate the proper trans for your car.

Thanks for the info guys. I found some on car-part.com. It returned some results with the park ave/olds 88 mixed in there. Thats why i was questioning that.
