Power seat problems. 97 Bonneville SSEI
Hello;
I have owned this car for about 5 months and it has given me little trouble.
However, I brought the car to firestone to get a water pump replaced (big mistake) and they decided to replace the battery as well. Well, everything was working fine previous to that, but after the battery was replaced, most of the interior electronics failed to work (radio, climate control, etc) I replaced the fuses to all of those, and they are working fine.
The problem is, both seats will NOT adjust. They make odd, loud clicking/popping noises and do not budge. The fuse guide says the fuse is in slot 3 (it'* a circuit breaker) and I am curious if that would be the problem. Thing is, I cant find this circuit breaker anywhere. AND if it was the circuit breaker, wouldnt the seats not work at all> (Like, not even any noise?)
My knowledge about cars is very minimal, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. =)

I need help too. My power seat controls are not working. The fuse panel diagram in the owners manual says that it'* in the #3 slot on top but the diagram on the fuse panel cover says that slot is for the sts airbag system. Where is the fuse for the power seats?
Thanks Mike, I was misreading the diagram (actually my wife was) I swapped the fuse in the #3 position with the one in the #1 slot and the roof worked but not the seats. So the fuse is good. What next? Is there a circuit breaker? and where should I look for it? I bought a used button module from ebay but same issue, no power, no noise with the top 2 rows.
Mike, It sounded real promising but I took the trim and carpet up by the drivers seat and I couldn't find a buss, or anything electrical. This is frustrating as I've been in the body business for 50 years!!! Is there another place the buss would be? I looked for a circuit breaker under the rear seat as suggested from another thread but nada. I DID find a box attached to the harness in the trunk, driver side behind the seat. I tried to attach the pix but the upload keeps failing What do you suggest now?
you have one its just difficult to find, you have to peel the driver-side carpet back till you find the wad of wires kind of toward the front of the driver seat. then un-tape and peel off the loom and you will find the buss
Sorry, I've been working on other projects (i.e. paying customers). Thanks Jwfirebird, I finally did fine the buss. Unfortunately I'm back to square one, it was fine with no corrosion whatsoever. Do you think I just got a bad replacement seat button module and should take the chance of buying another onw? Or is there someplace else I should be looking?
you are going to have to get into it with a meter, and i dont have diagrams for that to tell you what to look for, sorry. the fuse can be good but the wires to the module might be bad or the fuse socket might be bad as well
