Given that he has an SE, there'* a very good chance he'* running 2.84'*, which will make it feel sluggish.

Its Like From 0 To 20 Mph I Get More Rpm Than I Should Ya Know? After That There Is Imediate Throttle To Wheel Response. The Fluid, After Driving Is At A Little Above The Cross Hatch. Its Very Clean And Clear, Maybe A Little Red. Smells Like Hot Oil. Need Help With The RPO codes as they are worn off my spare cover mostly. Scan Tool Data I Might Be Able To Get Tomorrow. I Think I Did Read In Chilton That I Have 2.94 Ratio. How Hard Is It To Change That To The 3+ Range? And What Car Can I Get The Parts From?

You don't have a 2.94 ratio. It was never offered.
20 rpm'* of slip in TCC lockup for a 4T60 is pretty high from my experience. I'd say 10 to 12 is good for a 60.
Why are you talking about a gear change on a trans that is acting up?

Will, The Gear Change Is Just Something I Am Exploring. I Have No Plans To Attempt It Any Time Soon. I Guess I Am Afraid If I Dont Find Out How Now Ill Loose The Chance To. I Still Am Floored At The Wealth Of Knowldge Of BC. I Must Be Mistaken About 2.94. Is There Another Way To Get My RPO codes? I Honestly Dont Know If I Have Any Tranny Problem Other Than Just The Fact That Its An Automatic In The First Place.

Another way to tell your gear ratio?
did your car come with steel wheels (15"), or aluminum (16"). I've never seen a 15" come with anything other than 2.84'*... if you're an SE, you're probably 2.84'*.

Barring all else, if you tell us your engine RPM'* while cruising on the highway, and the vehicle speed, we can differentiate between 3.06 and 2.84.

From what I understand on the 60-E the slip should be at a minimum through 96-96... 97 may have a different TCC lock strategy...
But on the 65-E, Its designed to allow for a given amount of slip, as well the clutch is designed to be able to tolerate the extra heat caused by the slip, a lot of the 65'* can lock at a low road speed, giving better economy... These Transmissions can have 20-30 or so RPM'* of slip...
The 60-E for most of the Bonnevilles should see 0-10 Rpms of slip... It would live with 20 Rpms of slip..
At Current I see anything from 10-60 given the tranny temps... If it werent for my cooler I'd be a lot worse off..
And it sounds as if he has transmission slip.. Getting a bit of 2nd gear slip every now and again myself
