I Dont Know For Sure, But, I Think My Tranny Is Slacking. The Fluid Looks Fine. Its Just That I Am Slow Off The Line. What Can I Do? I Hear The Shift Kit For My Tranny Does Not Come Cheap. Would It Help Much? Also What Would I Gain By Replacing As Much Fluid As I Can, Changing The Fluid And Filter And Going With Trick Shift Brand Fluid?

But I think the most relevent question is...what gear ratio do you have? What is your RPO codes for the trans? That will tell us what I think the answer is...your gearing is too numerically low to do anything blistering. |
Are you saying that its shifting hard/rough? Maybe that its delayed? Slipping? Shuddering?
If the fluid is nice and red and its full, yet transmission performance is still not what it should be, you should definitely run some seafoam trans tune through it and then take it to be chemically flushed. That should wake it right up. Then would be a good time to do the shift kit. It probably just has alot of varnish buildup which will happen after all those miles. It also wouldn't hurt to put a large transmission cooler on it to prolong its life even further. Keeping the temps down also slows down the build up of varnish again too. |
John, Btw I Dont Notice Any Real Problem. I Just Feel Slow Off The Line. Can I Possibly Do The Flush At Home?

I hope this is what you're asking....
Lets see... What is the value for slip RPMs while in OverDrive with the Torque Converter in lockup? Basically he is asking if the TCC is locking fully when its supposed to. When in overdrive, the TCC is supposed to lock up and create a direct link between the spinning crankshaft and the spinning wheels, it should not be slipping at all while in this mode. I hope that helped. Back on topic here, ok, good, it was only a suggestion, but if your shifts are tight, but you're loose off the line, I'd say TC too. |
Theres A TCC solenoid that controls the fluid flow into the Torque Converter And This Controls Lock Up/slip... So Tranny Fluid Causes Grip And The Lack Of It Causes Slip?

Hey, Just An Update. I Did Not Get To Any Tranny Work At All Yet. I Bought An Intake Pipe From Schucks And Installed It. Man You Can Hear The Vaccuum At Idle! Big Improvement. Do I Need A Rider To Watch My Scanner While I Drive To Get Tcc Lock Up Data?

well yes, it locks hydraulically, if no fluid, no lock.
and yeah...its recommended just to be safe. |
