Start with a pulley that has grooves. Grooves of the belt go to grooves of the pulley. Plan on routing it starting on the crank pulley (biggest low one) and finishing at the alternator while holding the tensioner as described above.

everything is spinning right and seems to be in place there are pieces of the old belt stuck on almost all the pulleys tho so im goin to wait until the morning to put the belt on

yeah, you'll want to get all the old belt off.
