The car we just bought had been "perma plated" four years back, when she was purchased at the dealer by original owner.
Anybody know what this is about and whether I can use my usual Meguiar'* wax-polish on the car?

I think this is some kind of paint sealing process! I know most body shops will do this for an extra charge (which no insurance company will pay for too) when any body work is done.
