Performance problem??
Well i'm a new owner and have been reading up a lot on my car. I have a 1992 ssei and as to my knowledge and to my dad whos a mechanic there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It feels so sluggish to me though. It has 106k miles and holds boost at ~8 psi. from a dead stop i barely chirp my tires. Idk if its because i have brand new falken performance tires and there sticky or mayb its all in my head. but i'm just wondering.

Moved to Mechanical so you can get better exposier
Did you do all the regular tune up stuff? (plugs, wires, filters,ect...)
What gas are you pumping? because it should NOT be anything less then 91 (higher the better)
Also the tires can have an affect on Spinning them, but should not affect acceleration

I think I understand that the SC engine has a lower compression ratio than the NA; compression is reduced from 9.4:1 in the L36 to 8.5:1 for the L67.
Is this correct? Why is it so if it is true?

supercharged versions of engines generally have lower compression ratios because the supercharger rams in extra air into the combustion chamber, thus allowing more fuel to be injected. This mixture is more dense than the NA engine'* mixture density since the supercharger rams it at 8psi,9psi,w/e... thus a lower compression ratio is needed. If you ran an NA compression ratio on a supercharged engine, then there would be so much compression in the cylinder due to both the stroke and extra psi from the SC, that ( i would assume) something would blow.

VERY good idea. For the record, I posted my correction so that people can get their facts in order. Even though compression has absolutely nothing to do with this problem.
