Default ONE CYLINDER DISSAPEARING WHEN WET

Hy all again,

Funny thing is hapening, when wet, after the rain (car is outside parked) I feel the 1 cylinger is not firing until engine warms up. Even once when it did warm up I was driving was raining cats and dogs, suddenly 1 cyl dissapeared, I couldnt go faster then 100km/hr then it came back again.
Then once I gave he motor some revs and even it was dry weather some wibration appeared as 1 cyl was kinda protesting. Later t came back to normal.

Somebody excperienced something like that.

Sparks plugs and wired has been changed 55k kilometers ago.

Regards
Would appreciate you sharing some experience.

I'm not expert by far; but maybe the coil packs are malfunctioning whenever there is a certain amount of moisture or relative humidity in the air.

Wait for others to chime in....I promise they will at some point. They'll probably tell you to use a volt meter on the coil windings and to report the findings.

A bad coil will take out two cylinders - but check them anyway. The procedure is in techinfo. Check the connections on the top of each coil for rust or corrosion. If you pull the coils, clean the connections well (including the screws) and dab some dielectric grease on them.

Check the routing of your wires to be certain that they haven't gotten too close to the manifold. As it appears to be a moisture problem, try a mist of water sprayed around the coils, and wires, in the dark and see if you notice any arcing.

I expect this is either a plug wire or something else in the line. The plug, wire, coil and ICM are all suspect. Please look them all over and look for any cracks, burn marks etc.

Default code 102 that sais mass or volume curcuit low imput

Thank you, wires was the problem. Changed it and cylindes ar in place.

But the light is comming out and is on to check the engine.

Scanned it gives me code 102 that sais mass or volume curcuit low imput. Maybe somebody had same problem and could advise me?

Thank you, would like that light to go away and to improve fues efficiency a little as I can feel it is not as good as before.

by the way that check engine light comes and goes but when comes , comes for long time, and when goes just for a while.

Looking fwd to hear any solutions, replies.

Thaks.

In addition to the problem described above, today my engine shut down twice!
it also acts as roaring up in revs at some times, especially when you turn the engine on fresh.

Please help.

The engine will idle higher when initially started.

Check over the coil pack for cylinder 1, swap it with another and see if your problem moves to the new cylinders.

From the 97 FSM'*:

P0102 - MAF Sensor Circuit Low Frequency

Normal operating range of MAF is 2000 Hertz at idle up to 10,000 Hertz at max. engine load.

P0102 will set if if the signal frequency from MAF sensor is lower than the possible range of a normally operating MAF sensor.

Conditions for setting P0102:

- Engine is running
- TP angle less than 50%
- System Voltage greater than 8 volts
- MAF signal frequency is less than 1200 Hertz
- Above conditions present for longer than 0.5 seconds + 400 3X reference periods (133 crankshaft revolutions).
