hey guys thanks for all the info. I'm gonna try to get it fixed. How do you degauss the trunk exactly? What do I need? Also, since I have never seen the module, where is it exactly? Is it on the passenger side of the trunk and is it just connected to a wire which clips into the module? I just want to make sure I order the right thing if thats what I have to do.

Under the trunk lid, behind the trunk light, right smack between the speakers!

OK, I posted this somewhere else once. This solves the problem of parts (stock parts!) in the vicinity of the module that are magnetized, but it won't solve a big ol aftermarket speaker giving it false magnetic fields!

Take out the compass module. You have to use either a 13-inch diameter
television degaussing coil, or you can also use one of those bulk tape
erasers from Radio Shack. I think the television coils are stronger.

1. Hold the coil about 1 inch below where the compass module is and
rotate it slowly in a circular pattern. You need to degauss a 1-foot
area around the module location. Stay away from the speakers. I think
the unit must operate from a 110V AC source.

2. After 30-60 seconds, move slowly away from the rear compartment
while maintaining the circular motion. Move at least 5 feet away from
the vehicle.

3. Close the trunk.

4. Do the same thing outside the vehicle, starting 1 inch above the
deck lid. Move at least 5 feet away and turn off the coil. I think
that these things can overheat and cut out fairly easily.

5. Put the module back in the trunk and recalibrate.

Hope this works. I don't know if the dealer has a degausser or not.

My compass calibrates 3 weeks at a time. I just have a mode switch and it fixes itself when I go in circles. I dont know if yours is the same but check out the zone your in and then go in circles under 10 mph and maybe it will work again. Also when you go on cemented roads it can throw the compass off.

Do not install a large magnet close to a magnetic sensor...
