Default Oil pressure question.

After rebuilding my motor, priming it and breaking it in, I have a small issue. When I start the car, the gauge reads no pressure, so I rev the motor to 2000 RPM approx and boom, It kicks up the pressure to the normal range. As long as it is running, I have no problem with it at all. When I turn off the car and restart it, I have to go thru the same procedure. Any Ideas. Is this serious???

i would check your dash gage against a real mechanical one, you might just need an oil pressure sending unit

Did you mess with the spring inside the oil filter adapter?
