Oil pressure nosedive

Oops. While driving towards my driveway (~20 MPH), I shifted it into neutral, and then reverse just after I pass it so I can back in. Normally, I let the car stop or slow down to 5-10 MPH before shifting from neutral to reverse, but today I was in a rush, so I (stupidly) shifted it into reverse at like 15-20 MPH. (stupid stupid stupid...) I just feel a clunk and the oil pressure just drops instantly from ~30 PSI to zero. The car dings as the check gauges light comes on, and I freak out and kill the engine. Nothing else happened--no check engine light, no sound of oil-less engine... nothing.
I restart the engine a few seconds later and the oil pressure'* fine. What happened there? It runs fine as if it never happened at all.

are you sure the engine was still running after you put it in reverse? I saw somewhere that its supposed to kill the engine if you put it in reverse while in motion, which would of course drop the oil pressure to zero.

The PCM shut down the engine to prevent any detremental tranny damage from occuring....It'* a dumbass safety...LOL
By the way...always come to a complete stop before shifting.....It'* bad on the sun gears in the auto'* to do that....been there, done one in my pickup truck.

I'm pretty sure your oil pressure hit zero because it stalled you out. All those lights...probably the same lights you see when key is on and engine isn't running.
Think about it...could you really hear the engine still running above the pounding of your heart and the radio?

That'* a relief. Instead of killing the engine and freaking out the driver, couldn't it just keep the tranny in neutral until the vehicle slows down and it'* OK to shift?
Or here'* a new feature... the dumbass light. Do something stupid, and the dumbass light flashes. It would have to be an LED instead of a bulb, since bulbs burn out...

A few tips...
Do not throw the car in reverse untill you have come to a stop.... Doing so will shorten the life of the tranny...
I agree I'd say the PCM killed the engine to avoid damage to the tranny... A dead on drop to 0psi says to me that the engie was chopped of fuel...
And when shifting into any gear, please give the PCM/Trans a couple of seconds before smashing the gas...
