Oil pressure guage pegged

Nope, a direct connection to ground will cause the gauge to read 0. One side of the sender is connected to ground, and the other is connected to the gauge. The higher the resistance in the sender, the higher the oil pressure. Try unplugging the sender. The gauge should go all of the way to the high side.

I unplugged the sender, tried it, and sure enough the needle pegged its self without the car running....my dad is betting on my sender being bad...will one off a junked oldsmobile or maybe a junked buick 3.8 work? thats if the car had a gage instead of a light?

it'd be pretty pointless to buy a used one...you could put it in and have exactly the same problem.
