With filter it'* approx. 5 quarts with changing filter. Buy 5 to do the oil change, put 4 in start it up for a minute. Then check and top it off.

I think the official amount is 4 1/2 quarts becuase the filter only takes a half quart. In fram I believe its a 3387A or if your feeling interested you can put on a 1 qt filter(3980) if it fits for an even 5 quarts. No real importance to that post, just thougth it might be interesting to you.

Alright this hasn't happened again, but I have to drive a good distance tmorrow (saturday), so we are gonna hope for the best.

However with any luck I will do my oil change before I go, so we will upgrade crappy firestone crap to four quarts of Mobil Clean High Mileage 10W-30, one quart of Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer, and K&N Oil Filter # HP-1001. I will take a close look at the fiter and stuff and see if I notice any obvious problems.

Garb...how "old" was your old oil that it didn't register any pressure?

I'm thinking we might need to put you up for a bonneville abuse award.

You are definately up for an award. Specially since the oil was so bad and low that it gave you zero pressure.
