Hahahaha.. Sam that'* a good one. Ok it says your EGR is complaining. You can try to clean it w/some carb cleaner but it probably won't work. Or try the magic that usually works for me. Take the connector on and off about 5 times. (dirty connections maybe)

Otherwise... you don't want to ask how much one costs.

the one on e-bay is used, but looks new. It'* from a series III. The seller claims it'* the same as a series II egr.
Is this correct?

Would you guys buy a used one, or would it be advised to spend the 100 and get a new one if needed?

Thanks, Sam B.

OK, guys, I e-mailed the guy with the used one, because his ad says he'* got new ones as well.

He replied to my e-mail and said 50 bucks, shipped to my door. I asked him to confirm it'* a new unit at that price, and I'll await his reply.

Wow, this guy is prompt. he replied and said the price quote is for a used one.. doh.. I originally asked for a price on a new one.

I'm skeptical about a used one.. I dunno.. maybe I should go for it.... maybe not.

I'll try cleaning the contacts on the plug first though..

try the contacts, see what happens.

if it'* a no-go, ask the guy from ebay if he'll give you a 3 month warranty, during which if the check engine light comes on and posts that code, you get a refund.

can't hurt to ask, and he'd prolly go for it... seems like a pretty good 3800 guy...

He'* offering a 90 day warranty on used and new. his new ones are low low miles, according to him. and he also said the newer ones are from 04 cars, but work well on series II engines. they are a different part number though, according to him.

He wants 75 shipped for the near new ones..

He offers a 90 day warranty on either like new, or used..

none of his are totally new..

I'll check the connections forst, and then take it from there...

have a great time

if it does end up being bad, you can't go wrong with a 90 day warranty... gives you plenty of time to find out if the one you got from him was bad or not...

but go! your egr system needs you!!

actually, mine was throwing up codes like mad about 5 months ago. Not having the money to do anything about it, I just decided to sit it out - and wouldn't you know it? it stopped after about 5 weeks... but I still don't recommend that course of action for others...
