Default OBDII for 94?

I was under the impression that a 94 Bonneville used an OBDII scan tool to get the codes. I was going to buy one, but the parts guy said it was for 96 and above. How can I get the codes to figure out my SES problem?

You have an OBD2 connector but your PCM is OBD1. Here is the breakdown:

'xx-'93 = OBD1 PCM and OBD1 connector
'94-'95 = OBD1 PCM and OBD2 connector
'96-'xx = OBD2 PCM and OBD2 connector

'94-'95 were the "crossover years". You need a scan tool that can connect to an OBD2 connection but still read OBD1 codes.

That'* the best explanation I've heard yet. Thanks, Gordy.

You need an OBD-1 computer with the 16-pin connector.

Try Actron CP-9110 + CP-9111 + CP9115
