OBD1.5 Code clearing
When driving down the road my car will come out of overdrive into third. With my code reader I can erase the codes and it goes back into overdrive. I've got over 250k on this car and don't feel like messing with the tranny at this point. It'* acceptable to me to just erase the codes and live with it. Now the reason for writing this is that I'm looking for an easier way of erasing the codes while going down the road. My code reader is not backlit and impossible to see at night, along with being hard to handle one handed. Anyone out there built any kind of device that can be used to reset the codes. I don't need to read them, I have a reader for that.

No, its not as easy as shorting 2 pins. It'* all software based. Basically, the scanner sends a command to your PCM to clear all stored fault codes. We'll look more into your actual code...
It'* not 100% exact, but you may want to have a look at the troubleshooting steps for the OBD-II flavor of that code.
That won't clear your code, but it may help stop it altogether. Good luck.
