If no lights come on the dash, check the battery connections. Sometimes they get loose.

If that'* fine and nothing is happening with the starter, first try tapping on the starterbody and hopefuly the solenoid will release and get you going.

**** CAUTION ****
Lawer mode on
Reading further than this and implementing any of the following suggestions could lead to bodily damage or death. Side effects include anal leakage and stroke.
Lawer mode off

If that doesn't get you going then get a screwdriver, and look at the top of the starter you'll find the solenoid. At the end of the solenoid there are 2 wires. the thick one comes from the battery, the thin one goes to your ignition key. Jumping the 2 SHOULD start cranking the engine.

Make sure you're in park or you may run yourself over.

Check your battery cables. Also check the connection at the block and at the starter.

Hey SKS,

Sounds like the starter pignion won't engage. happened to my truck. a new starter should get you running again.

Pull the old one and bring it to your autosupply shop and they can test it.

If it was the VATs the engine would crank but not run. If it'* not cranking at all try doing a jump start. If it still wont crank check the battery cables where they connect at the block(ground) and starter(positive). If it does crank when jumping but not on the battery check the batter cables at the battery. Load test the battery. Also check the cables. They can go bad.
