What year is your car? How about the trim level? Please add this information to your signature by clicking on the "Profile" link at the top of the screen. Thanks.

It sounds like it could be a cracked gear in the airmix door actuator. Many here have had the gear crack after a disconnect of the battery. We don't know exactly why, but it may have something to do with the actuator cycling through on start-up and the gear ends up cracking somehow.

If you enter in "airmix" in the Search function at the top of the page, you will get quite a few topics for the airmix actuator issue. To try to see if your actuator is moving when changing temperature, you need to remove the glovebox and look through a small hole in the dash support to see if the actuator rod moves when changing temperatures.

This pic is looking through the hole, behind the glovebox that shows the airmix door actuator rod in place in the white connector that is attached to the airmix door to determine how much hot/cold air. There is small black plastic box that you can't see that drives that rod. While looking through the hole, adjust your temperature on the contol panel and observe what the rod does. It should move all the way to the passenger side for full heat, and all the way to the driver'* side for full cold. If it binds, pops, or clicks, and doesn't move or moves erratically, then the airmix actuator gear is broken or has failed

Yes. There is a way to manually control following the link below.

BUT, before you do anything, this is only one possible problem, it may not be the case with yours. You need to see if the rod and connector move as described above before taking stuff apart.

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...hlight=redneck

If you just want FULL heat ALL the time, you can also just pop the rod off of the actuator, and push the connector all the way to the passenger side and leave it there (without the rod popped back in), but you will have heat ALL the time. If it gets too hot inside the car, you can turn speed of the blower down, turn the air "off", or open the windows.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you. It should stay on full heat unless you move it again. Stay warm

and your display will still flash for the first 30 seconds or so everytime you start the car until it is fixed/replaced, but don't worry about it. The flashing is your car'* way of telling you something is wrong with the HVAC system, but it won't affect your ability to drive it.
