Default New fan motor, time with son, loud noise? priceless?

Ok
put in a new fan motor. Amazed my self that I could do it. Then I turn it on high and it goes, ahhhhhhhhhhrhrg aararrrrrrrrrrrrrrraahhhhhhhhhhggggga,,, shut it off I say.

So i figure somehow it must be not ligned up right. Anyone have any experience in putting one of these in and getting it wrong?

And do the bolts that hold the fan on need to be cranked down or what.

I got this thing on and now can move it around to get the noise to stop.

What do you think?

Tighten the bolts down. It should be tight up against the gasket, 13-15 in lbs.

Uh oh, ws I supposed to check that before I put it in? &*(^%[email protected]#$-(&^$%%

Ohh, Im going to be so mad at myself if I was supposed to do that. I sure seemed tight when I turned the fan wheel and all that.

Im goinog to tighten the bolts tommorow. They sure did seem like they were at the end of the thread. Frankly they are difficult to tighten with the rubber and all that. To me it seems like something is out of alignment.

I dunno. i really surprised my self that I could even do that. That was a big job for a redneck white boy like me.

If it'* on tight..then look for it to be off balance.

Default ok

Well. Im not to smart about this stuff. I thought tires had to be balanced. I didnt know I would have to check the balance on a fan.
What do I do? Take it to discount fans?

Default Fan

Still cant get it right.
So far I have found that, the cover has to go back over the fan motor to give the bolts enough thread to grip. I stripped one thread by doing it the other way. ( always pu the cover one). So I put in a self tapping screw. I can get the fan up to three bars but on four it does the arrggghhh, rubbing sound again. Perhaps another one of the bolts are stripped and not holding on tight enough.

Three bars though are way better than the 0 Iwas getting before.

I didnt expect to have this kinda problem when I did this job.

The fan motor wouldn't be unbalanced. The round fan blade on it might be or might be out of round.

Not sure where you'd go besides returning it as defective and getting another.
