Autozone has a real problem with their alternators. I have a spare one in the back of my car now. I took it out because at idle, everything in my car went dim. I put the ACDelco unit in, no problem.

That alternator replaced an Autozone one that had a bad bearing in it from day one.

Very poor quality control.

I think one problem is that they have to go by what their computer says all the time (like most places these days), only a lot of the time their computer is just wrong. They tried to sell me an aftermarket replacement blower motor/fan assembly for my Trans Sport that would have been all but impossible to install with the engine in the way. Another time they ordered a head bolt and gasket set for me that turned out to have been discontinued, but we only found that out a week later, _then_ found that the parts had been sitting on the shelf in separate packages all along, _but_ would have been $10 more if bought as separate packages. At least I got them to give me the old set price on those. Let'* see... oh, yeah, they've ordered stuff, then lost it in the computer and can't find out what the status of the order is or _where_ it is, etc. They're popular with the ricer crowd but they're not real, um, "deep," or whatever the word is for being able to get stuff that'* not just sitting on the shelf in Aisle 5.

But hey, if I ever need LED windshield washer nozzles, they're the place to go!
