Default N/A vs. SC Series II blocks

A friend of mine is doing a swap with in a Fiero. He has a Series II */C engine with 40K it. Unfortunately the while in storage the block rusted a hole in the cylinder wall. Everything else is in great shape. Can a N/A block be used in place of the */C block with the */C internals and head etc? Or can is a */C block ok to sleeve, even one with a window? Thanks.

The block are the same... If he is doing some big mods (cam or IC) he just could use the L36 short block and use the L67 upper half.
