You said you were turning, right? If you leave your turn signal on for too long you will get a warning chime. I had this happen to me once and it took a few seconds to figure it out.

My 94 SE does the bong all the time along with an erroneous "Check Gages" light. This is the second GM car that I have owned that does this and I suspect ageing of the ribbon connector behind the dashboard cluster. One of these days I'm going to yank the dash and clean the connections..
Your spontaneous Bong may be the same thing....

My 92 se does the bong bong bong with a check gauges light. its always for the gas. it usually starts to happen around a quarter tank but if i take a tight turn ive seen it happen with even a half tank of gas

man how do you reply so fast lol. why isnt it normal? i just figure my gauge was off a little bit and when i turn all the gas sloshes to the other side of the tank so it thinks i have less fuel than i do.
