It may be time for a Tranmission rebuild
Tuesday of last week I was driving home on the Garden State Cashcow doing about 70 and notice I was revving high for 70 just shy of 3000rpm'*, so I pulled off and started again counting the shifts. Well I only counted 2. NO OVERDRIVE! 
So I took it into a transmission shop (have not gone to a second place yet) and they came up with 2 codes; one for the bad pressure selinoid and the other for too much clearance in the 2nd drum in the valve body which causes delayed shifts. But as far as im concerned I dont feel or notice any major problems other then the no overdrive, of course they couldnt trouble shoot that problem unless they take the trans apart to investigate for a modest fee. Im at 151,000 miles I just think its time for a rebuild of this one or I was considering purchasing a rebuilt trans and sending this one back as a core. The car is still very driveable so I have some time. Im trying to weigh in on whether I should purchase a rebuilt trans (which I know how much will be) or have this one taken apart at some chance that it doesnt need to be rebuilt. The problem with the 2nd option is if it needs to be rebuilt theres never a guarantee on the price. If anyone has some imput or would like to weigh in there 2 cents please do so. :?

when the valve body went in my Alero, i lost OD for about 20 miles...then it came back for a bit, then it was gone compleatly, the car was shifting like **** as well, did i mention the fluid was damed near burnt by that time?

I'm not completely sure, but valve body replacement is not that extreme of a job. I think they have to remove the side cover from the transmission. They do not have to drop the tranny to do this job. It would be hundreds of dollars. Has a technician taken the car out on the highway with a tech II, he can force the tcc in order to diagnose or confirm that the fault lies within the valve body.

The tech told me that I have the 2 trouble codes for the PCC selenoid and for the wide clearance in the drum causeing delay in the shifts but as of right now we have no clue why I lost OD.

Take the car to another shop and see what the second shop tells you...
If the tranny really did need replacing, I'd be very tempted to get a Factory Reamn tranny, Not exactly a GM Goodwrench, Or SRTA Hydramatic, but a Factory reman tranny... I have yet to see may trans shops that are truely good with rebuilding a 4T65-E or 4T60-E / 4T60-440T4..... They are few and far between...
Again, get the car to another shop and see what answers thay give you before deciding what you want to do..

Good advice, I was planning on getting a second opinion, I still have some hope that the problem can be pinpointed before tearing anything apart. :?
