Any links to the maf cleaning procedure? Also, what exactly did you mean by your statement that the plug wires were fine? They would have to be ran individually on an analyzer to make sure, physical checks can be misleading.

We have a Techinfo article on TB and MAF cleaning:

And I agree, you should at least use an ohmmeter to check each wire and report the resistances back here. Also check for carbon scoring where you may be shorting out through the insulation. I've had bad wires out of the box.
