First picture shows the parking tang as it would when the trans is in gear
Second pic shows the same tang when gear selector is in park.
Third is just an overall pic...the parking gear is missing, but is the first thing to place in this trans, then goes the diff, bearing, and finally the cover. The parking gear is slid onto the output shaft, as is the differential. That is what enables the trans to "park".

thanks for sharing, I believe I got a better understanding of it now.

So when its in park and you rev the engine is it putting force on this piece?

No. As far as valving goes, Park and Neutral are the same. The only difference is with park, the prawl is mechanically activated.
