well I just saw a picture of the contents and there are NO upper gaskets?

if you buy your UIM from GM, it will have the UIM gaskets in the box.

If you buy from an auto parts store, stop by, and ask them to open the box.

P/N's:

Updated LIM Gasket: 89017400
Updated Upper intake Gaskets: 89017554
Stupid Coolant Elbow: 24503423

Nick... with the differences of SC to NA I wasn't sure on the gaskets.

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...intake+gaskets

Here's my link and what I found. The coolant elbow was found as a two pack in my case at a local parts house (not a chain) that supplies local dealers etc with factory GM parts.

You will notice the elbows were made by "Help" and can be found under that part number for the SC application.

I also found uppers were seperate from lower gaskets. When given the choice of first design vs second on lower intake gaskets I had Advance get both (I'm able to send back special order...most can't) The second design came in first and I dug in.. they were a match and fit great.

Tips and tricks. If you change the hoses like I did figuring they are old and the coolant is drained, buy the tool you see in my thread. Part number for Sears is in there as well.

When gasket scraping.. go through 20 or so razor blades in your 1.99 Napa/Adavance scraper.. a fresh blade works like a champ. Soon as you notice you are working at it..change it.

Hank from RI gave me a great tip on fuel injector removal.. spray the base of each injector with silicone spray lubricant..then wiggle and pull they pop right out. Reinstall with a little vasoline on the rubber rings.

Have vacuum hose on hand.. you will find at least one that's dry and cracked.

Other than that..I think having your bc manual in hand buddies on speed dial helps as well.

Thanks for the numbers......

I called around today and found that the dealer was the cheapest in gasket prices so I bought them all and also the Coolant Elbow from the local dealer today. I also bought a package of new O rings for the injectors just incase I would need them and I am sure I will.

Bill,
thanks for the link, it helped.
Where will I run into scraping of gaskets that I will go through that many blades, I was hoping all I need is a good putty knife?
Thanks for the tip on the silicone spray lubricant and a little vasoline.
What sizes of vacuum hoses should I get?

Very good thinking. I should have suggested that before, too. I changed my o-rings both times when I replaced the upper intake manifold. I dipped them in a little oil to help them slide easier.

I bought some, but ended up not using them at all... my old ones were in perfect shape. go figure.

Anyhew, I used gasoline as my lubricant to get the o-rings back into the mani, but oil works well too...

The Dorman and or Motormite( Same intake ) will come with the upper gaskets in the box, as well as a new PCV Valve, and new top for the PCV valve.... You may need to reuse the O rings for the lid and PCV valve... But it should come with all of the upper gaskets ;)

I decided to get a modified UIM from Bob Dillon, that is why I had the need for UIM gasket numbers.....

Depending on how they got shuffled around, you may have ended up with my original upper of my 99! ;)
