LIM gaskets
I would like to know what degree of difficulty it is to do the LIM gaskets. Probably on a scale of 1-10. i would like to know because i would like to do it as a preventitive measure as ive read they do go bad quite often. im pretty handy when it comes to cars but i havent done anything this extensive before, is most of it just bolt off and then back on? or whats the deal. i have already done the plenum and the plenum gasket because the egr port broke on the last one..... i know i know should of done the LIM at the same time but that was before i found here and knew they went bad. oh and also i didnt do the plenum... i had a mechanic do it, it looked fairly simple but didnt want to screw it up.
thanks
thanks
thanks, sorry to say though i just went to check and on the passenger side between the front valve cover and the plenum next to where the pcv valve there is a little puddle there that keeps coming back, i have yet to find out if its oil or coolant, hopefully oil so i doesnt have to be such a big deal but with my luck im saddened to think its most likely coolant
That'* a pretty tough call, as one persons 8 will be another'* 4. If you are good with cars, following instructions (don't do it without them) and have the proper tools, you should be able to do it without any problems.
You should be primarily worried about the UPPER intake manifold on that car, and do the lower gaskets at the same time.
Being in MN is a big advantage. You have some skilled members in your area, and they get together quite often.

the upper is already done, i did the upper before i knew the lowers went bad and before i knew about this site and now i would like to have the lower done as now i see there is either oil or coolant sitting between the valve cover and the plenum next to the pcv valve, hopefully its oil but i still have yet to check
I use a 3/8" drive Craftsman beam-type torque wrench for the UIM LIM work. It is about $25. There are several well-documented threads on how to do this in the Techinfo article: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=38. I would rate this work a difficulty of 5 on a 1-10 scale.
