yes they are controlled, as they just dont fly up....if you ever see a Caddy trunk setup you see that they have 2 coil springs on each hinge to controll the opeing of the trunk

No problem G

I found a large ratchet with smallest deepwell socket gives good leverage to do the adjusting while laying in the trunk Be careful though..the torsion bars have much more power and tension than you would think possible.

also you must be careful when you adjust the rods because, they could possible pop out of the trunk hinge where they are attached when the tension is increased....When i Increased the tension on the one side it moved ALOT from the position that it has worn in from the factory


and yes the torsion bars can kick your *** when trying to adjust them

After adding the trunk carpet mine hasn't really popped up much, it rises a few inches and chills there until either I, or a gust of wind comes along.

I'm not terribly looking forward to messing with the bars as you can tell..

Don't..

I went from not being able to tell when it unlocked to watching it fly up and look like it was going to take out the window. Leave it at a couple inches..that'* a nice height
