ECL problems (i think)
97 SSEi, not even sure if the ECL even works. The buttons beside the shift lever (PERFOM RIDE & TOURING RIDE) don't work, they are not lit and pushing them has no effect on the ride height. ECL MAXI fuse is good, compressor works with in truck on and off buttons. What am I missing. Thanks for all the help.

Uhhh, ELC comes on on its own. Those buttons don't change the height and don't have anything to do with ELC (you mean ELC). Performance Ride is for CCR not ELC (and CCR are known to fail...and those struts are not available anymore). I'm pretty sure I'm completely correct on that but someone let me know if I'm wrong...(cause I don't think I am).
Have some people push down on the trunk for about a minute and see if the compressor kicks on.

The performance and touring ride buttons don't change the ride height, they just firm up the ride.
The reason thay neither one of them work is probably due failed CCR struts and they were replaced with either Non-CCR OEM struts or aftermarket struts.
I had mine done not too long ago and that was the case with mine. The front struts were bad and were replaced with OEM'* and the CCR system was disabled :(

As mentioned..
ELC = ride height (automatic system)
CCR = Struts and they have probably been replaced (this is good)
The ELC is an automatic system that can be further diagnosed if you suspect your ride height is not at the proper setting.
The first thing to check it turn the key on and go stand by the back of the car. 27-35 seconds later the system should quickly purge and then the compressor will run for 3-5 seconds. This is normal and programmed in. If the compressor starts immediately or not at all..that would indicate a possible problem.

So the buttons on the shift console (Perform Ride, Touring Ride) control the CCS. If the struts were changed it doesn't work.
Does that cause the buttons not to light up or is there possibly something else wrong?
Is there any way that I can physically look at the struts to tell if they are not original?

you can look at the struts and see if there is an electrical connector PLUGGED in to the strut, if it is they are the orignal
