Default Lifter Knock

well, everytime i start my 92 bonney when the motors cold, and get a little knock, and it goes away in a few seconds. Im guessing its a lifter. I would like to replace them, and I would gladly pay for all new lifters. My dad is a good mechanic, and he said "ehh, it runs, just drive it". He wont spend the time to replace them. pisses me off... Just thought I would vent here.. and im not about to try to myself.

Rob

oh yeah, I have 178, 000 miles

If its a sticky lifter I would try some Marvles Mystery Oil in your next oil change. This helped quiet mine and Im sure it would yours since it just happend.

Try a can of that Marvel Mystery Oil. May take a day or a week, but it should work if the lifters have a little varnish.

Also, many Bonne'* and almost all Grand Am GT'* display this annoyance. We have three new GT'* in our family and all tap once in a while, either on cold OR warm start-up.

Dealer says it is the nature of the beast. I believe that.
