Default knock sensor

Hi everyone. I just picked up a 94 Bonneville with 160,000 miles bought "as is" from a local used car lot. The Service Engine Soon light was on and he pulled the code for me and it said knock sensor. He said its nothing to worry about. Any thoughts on this, will this cause the computer to retard timing and lead to a loss in power? The car seems alittle sluggish for having 170hp although it could just be the high milage although it doesn't smoke or anything. Any help is appreciated,
Eric

I would suggest changing it. It'* there to protect the engine. You will need to drain the coolant, or be ready to get wet. Make sure it'* torqued at the exact amount, no more, no less.
