Default Intake Manifold Removal

Hi all,

The lower intake manifold gasket on my Bonnie needs to be replaced. I have 8 bolts removed on top of the manifold (plus all the wire harnesses, vacuum lines, etc), but it doesn't seem to want to come off. Am I missing a bolt somewhere? Are there bolt(*) under the */C, do I have to take that off too? I tried to figure out if I have a VIN K or L motor, but I'm not sure where to look, or if it would even matter.

Thanks for any help!

You have a Vin1 motor, not K or L. Yes, the SC has to come completely off first. There are bolts underneath it. You should really have a maintenance manual to do this. The stud in the nosedrive end of the SC going through the alt bracket will have to be double nutted to be removed before the SC will come off, as well.

Count on it. Might be a month or two though. And I may try a redneck fix first You can probably guess what my problem is, and what I have in mind

Not performance oriented. Typical high-mileage maintenenace. You'll do it eventually, too. Had to fix the same problem on Jseabert'* SSE last year. The seal between the top edge of the block and the lower intake manifold (where the block, manifold, and heads all meet in the corner) erodes and leaks oil (non-pressure leak). I need to replace mine.
