HUD and Speedometer problems..
Ok, recently i've been noticing that my HUD has been spitting out random speeds for example: i'm cruising at 50 and it will jump from like 23 to 30..back to 50..on and on.. and then sometimes it will just go to a constant 0. ....kinda weird?? ... anyways , NOW MY SPEEDOMETER is doing that. The other day i was crusin around 40 and my speedometer went down to like 20 and then rapidly went up and down really fast for about a minute..then went back to normal... then a few minutes later it just dropped to 0 mph and did nothing. ..now today it worked fine, however, the HUD still read 0 mph. WHAT IS WRONG??? AHH!! i'm guessing some speedometer sensor went reallll bad. HELP!
Occasionally I get a real quick, random HUD fluctuation. It only does it when I have my bad wheel speed sensor plugged in. I realize that the speedometer signal comes from the VSS on the tranny output shaft, but I've tested it, WSS unplugged, I get no fluctuation. Food for thought.
to start, it'* still doing it. Secondly, i don't know what these abbreviations are for..so talk somewhat child terms for me because i dont know much about speedometers etc.. Thirdly.. can someone please tell me what to do? ..as far as like checking certain sensors and where they are... ?? i'm 17, i don't know too much. thanks.
You will need to get your heads up display (hud) out to check the wiring.
Remove the defrost grill, and 2 screws.
The dark green wire with a white stripe (drkgrn/wht) is the Vehicle speed input wire, it comes from the Powertrain Control Module (pcm). The Vehicle Speed Sensor (vss) wires run to the pcm.
You will need to ensure this is a good connection to your hud and trace it back to the instrument cluster if you have too.
