Since I'm having a code 53 which is EGR problem I want to try to clean it to see if this makes the problem go away. I checked on a new EGR valve and it'* like $170. I think I'd rather clean it first.

Take it off the car, open it and spray Sea Foam Deep Creep or TB cleaner into it. I believe that'* what I've heard people say to use. never done it myself though.

93 Digital EGR valves can be cleaned without removing it. It usually solves the problem in this manner. If not, then remove it for more thorough cleaning.

Use a solvent and brush to clean the solonoid shafts and springs. They're visible and accessible.
