Default How To Check CV Shaft

OK.. my car starts to shakve violently above 106KMH and at first I thought it was unbalanced tire.. but talkin to the mechanic.. he said that if it'* unbalanced tire or even a shifted belt.. It should've started shaking @ 80kmh, and he told me to check my Hub.bearings and CV shaft. How do I check to see if my CV shaft is the culprit? I think I'm going to rotate my tire next next weekend.. just to confirm.. but what else should I check for the CV shaft?

P.*. When I step hard on the gas from a stop the car feels like it'* jumpin teeth.. so I wonder if it'* the CV shaft or not as I can go WOT from a roll.. just not from a stand still.

I'd still go with a the tire(*) not being balanced or the belt shifted. When I had a bad CV joint it made lots of noise. Let us know if you feel any difference once you rotate your tires. BTW, how old and how many miles are on the present tires? If you have the your receipt for the tires, you may be able to get them replaced.

Drifter, I would try a balance first. It is the simplist place to start...

10K or so on the tires. Haven't rotated them.. but the drive yesterday and today was fine.. it seems to happen intermittently.. and @ first I thought it was just certain stretches of road not being smooth but it started happening everywhere.. then it stops.. then it will start up again.. humm.. will definitely rotate the tires first next week to see how it goes ( as its the long weekend and have to head up north right after work, so won't have time.. and it hasn't been bad so far ) ( yes I do check tire pressure once a week or two ). K so CV shaft would start making noise as a first sign.. humm..

OK.. notice a few other people have similar situations.. and one of them is struts.. well when I had my accident they only changed one strut.. and when its vibrating bad ( even thru steering wheel ) I hear this squeaking sound. How do you check that? ( Only way I remember was for shot struts which you bounce the car and it shouldn't have more then 2 bound/rebound from a hard push/shake
