Default Hot air when running AC

Ive got a '96 SE and when turning on the AC, all I get is hot air running out of all the vents, especially the lower. Ive run thru all the climate controls, and nothing happens, but hot air. It acts like, Im running the heat, I can hear the AC compressor start but there is no cooling.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanx...

Ginger

Did you check to see what reading'* you have in your A/C lines? If you actually know that the system is full, take out the glove box inner liner, and behind there you will see an actuator on top of the heater unit. See if that moves when you move the hot/ cold selector. If that rod doesnt move the air door actuator is probably bad. Go to a junk yard and grab one. Mine cost me $5.00 at the junk yard.

Good luck,

Default hot air with AC on

Thanks for the info!!! I also forgot to mention that even with the AC off I get hot air blowing out the floor vents.
