So yeah, I'm gonna check the oil before heading out of state and nothing happens when I pull the release. Now it'* getting dark and I'm like, "Now WTF?". I quick jump on here, found this post...i actually pulled the cable, then hit the front of the hood, opened right up. Sprayed some WD40 on the latch and stuff...works fine. Thanks for keeping such an invaluable resource....Plus you guys are funny as heck

Default Hood latch, lube and slam

I'm with the others that found out after lubing the hood release mech including the cable and lever mech. sometimes ya gotta just give the driver'* door one good swing closed and voula,............... Hood pops every time!!!!!

at first i thought that was a standard feature....so the hood wouldn't pop open until you shut the door, ensuring that the car wasn't going down the road or something. hehehe then i greased the latch.

Agreed. Mine wouldnt open, got some WD40 up there on the latch and its now smooth every time. No more having to pull the hood up or slam stuff...
