Default HELP! Problem With Bonni :(

Hey guys! My first post!!! Whoopie!
Now, the bad news. I believe I have a shift solenoid problem in my 1993 Bonneville. I cleaned the intake recently, and changed the filter. About a week later I have a problem... If i stomp hard on the gas, it wont shift into second gear. It just keeps revving at 5, to 6, to 5 until I let of the gas. My car has 178,481 on it. The engine is in superb condition, with a tune-up, spark plugs, and all new coil packs. Anyway, I wouldn't wanna buy a new tranny, and Idk if it'* a timing belt problem or not. I'm really car-illiterate. So can you guys help me?
Thanks guys!

Sincerely,
Steve

I'm not the most familiar with your year and trans. But is it possible you knocked a vacuum line loose? Check over all the lines and wires.

The vacuum line Dan is talking about goes to the shift modulator on the front of the transmission. It'll need that to shift.

Tune up and TPS also do a lot to control the shift. It would be nice if you could see what was happening on a scanner, most wouldn't do that level of scanning though. Maybe a free diagnostic from a trans shop would be the best route.

Ok well, I checked it over. I'm going to look at that vac line you're talking about. Someone told me it'* the transmission and the clutchpad is well worn. But right before it shifts it gives a loud wine. werrrrrrrrrrrr errrrrr. Then shifts through. Usually perfectly. Sometimes, a knock... And sometimes, it'll just keep reving, and reving. 6 to 5 6 to 5 till I let off the gas.
