Default Heated mirrors on SSEI ??

K.. just noticed a few people mentioning about heated mirrors.. my 97 SSEI don't have them... how would I know if they did?? ( wouldn't it usually have a sign on the mirror? ). Is is usually on when the rear defroster is on? going to look into it.. thanx for any input.

They'd melt the ice along with the rear window...

Some do, but mine don't.

Yes.

To be sure, you need to find out what the RPO code is for heated mirrors on your car (someone here should know), and look at your trunk sticker to see if it'* listed there.

You should have a little defrost icon on the glass of the driver'* mirror, too. Not only will it melt ice, but it'll also evap a fine dew coating. It should be very obvious when you turn your rear defrost on.

I was not sure if mine had them...There is no insignia on them, but there seems to be a blueish hue to them. The other morning I was scraping ice, rear defrost on, and I checked one and it was warm, so I must have it!

If the mirror has a blue tint, good bet it'* heated. My 98 SSE has blue-tint mirrors (but no symbol on the glass) and when the ice happened earlier this year, I got a chance to them in action. They cleared right up! Great thing to have.

If you have the blue tint to the mirrors, DON'T SCRAPE them. That'* an optical coating and can be damaged.
