Default Heated Mirrors

Do our cars have heated mirrors? Sometimes it seams like it does, sometimes not. It has been below 10F lately and it seems like they dont work if it has them. But there have been times where the mirrors are packed with snow, and I hit the rear Def and they clear in like 2 minutes. There are no logos on the mirrors and no mention of them in the owners manual. The glass itself has the blueish tint to it. I hope it is just the cold and they are not broke.

Some do, some dont, it depends if your car was purchased with that option. The easiest way that I know of to tell if you have heated mirrors would be to take the door skin off (details are in tech info) and find the wire that runs up inside your door to your mirror. There are 4 wires running from other parts of your car to that plug and either 3 or 4 wires that run to your mirror assembly. If you have 4 wires, you more than likely have heated mirrors, if you have 3 you more than likely dont. To verify this, you could then unhook the connector and use a multimeter to see if one of the plugs changes from 2-3v to 12v when you hit the defrost button.

I finished adding heated mirrors to my 93 SE on Tuesday and will be posting a detailed writeup in the audio forum if your interested.

Hope that answers your question

Randy

If there is a blue tint on the mirrors, as well...then they are heated. On mine, there is no blue tint but it has wavy heat lines...

Like Jim said, if you have the optical blue tint, then you also have the heaters. You couldn't get the tint without the heat.

Surprising not all do....
I was really surprised to see that my 91 had heated mirrors.
So I figured the newer models must come w/ them standard.

You can pretty much go to the bank on the SSEi having them. Don't count on all SLE/SSE, or SE'* having them. In fact, very few, if any SE'* will.

That makes me really curious about mine...i always figured it didn't have heated mirrors (1994 SSEi) but i have noticed the blue tint esp. when it is really cold outside. Are the mirrors activated with the rear defrost then? I didn't notice the option on my "sacred scroll" either. (The paper in the trunk w/ all the options listed)

i was going to put some money in my car, but houses are DANG expensive here by Washington DC!
