Default Head Fitment

Do L36 heads work on L67s? The heads are from either a 95, 96, or 98. They would be going on a 97.

No, L36 heads don't have injector bosses in them. L67 injectors go into the heads, not the LIM. This is necessary due to the width of the M90.

The castings are the same, but as wilwren just stated, the pockets for the injectors are not drilled on an L36 head.

If you have the tools and the time, you can add the pockets for the injectors, since the material is in the casting. You need a drill press big enough to handle the head. The injector pockets are in there at an angle and you need three seperate steps for each injector pocket. (Main hole drilled through to the intake port, then counter-bored for the O-Ring seat, then chamfered at the top to aid in installing the injectors.)

If you are not equiped to do this yourself, then it would be cheaper to buy the L67 heads with the holes already present in the heads.

While a little shady and underhanded...you can buy remanufactured L67 heads from your local auto parts store and turn in the L36 heads as the cores.
