:( SHEESH Isn't this interesting

(don't you have to wonder if it involved some sort of "extended warranty" deal ?)

From my research on the issue (-and my '99 bonneville had catastrophic failure of both the upper manifold, AND the lower manifold gaskets, which nearly cost me the whole engine, due to crankshaft bearing/ coolant damage) all of my sources, including both GM dealers here in town, is that "GM is offering absolutely no good will whatsoever on these failures."

So, what the heck is the story here

Default Bad Plenum

I got antifreeze in my oil from a bad Plenum and gaskets. I need to spend about $800 for a new one replaced. If this is a known issue they need to play for a known issue. Who have you been bringing your issues up to. I would appreciate the address so I can join the fight!!

It'* not a safety issue, thus not recall. Only a bad design that has already been addressed by GM which they won't pay for. SOL just like the rest of us.

I don't know if any of this info is still good given the thread is 10 years old.

This is a campaign! I think we should all post here answering the questions below and send GM a copy of this post. There is obviously something wrong with there design and yet they continue to produce!

My idea of "EXCITMENT" is not putting my car in the shop!

If so, post here:
(Copy paste the questions below into your reply and briefly answer the questions)

What car had the problem?
What year is your car?
How many miles where on your Car?
Who did the repair?
What was the final cost of the repair?
Your contact info?
Yes and is it the upper Plenum Gasket? Did you verify if its the gasket, do you have antifreeze in your oil or is it a small 90 degree pipe that leaks on the left side of the engine. If you remove the 3800 series II plastic shield and look on the top to the left on the engine coming out of the upper plenum and goes out to go the water pump. That has a tendency to leak I've changed two of those on my 92 and 97. Also I'm in the middle replacing my upper Plenum Gasket, the upper gasket your talking about on my 1997 Bonneville SSE. I also replaced the upper gasket on my 92 not even a year ago. Im glad my 2005 had the Northstar V8, a Cadillac engine is less problematic than my other two.

Jon, this thread is 9 years old. I doubt the original poster is even around. Please be careful when resurrecting old posts.
