when i think of an engine shaking, i think misfire. but are all the pulleys spinning straight? can you see the hb spinning off balance?

The shaking is not that bad.. but is there.. is almost like a it comes and goes rapidly.. as a matter of fact I looked at the HB and it is not spinning even. But it was the same before... What is the process in replacing this .. he might have done it wrong.. or maybe it is something else...

But the shaking is almost like if someone is kicking the tire on the front.. lol

as far as replacing the hb, you disconnect belt. then remove the hb with a puller. usually a jaw type on our cars. the new balancer should come with new keys. maybe the mech didnt use a new key? usually those shear and not bend, but who knows. if he replaced it, and it is just as it was in the beginning, id take it back to him. do you have, or did you see the old hb?

and is this shaking constant, idle, WOT, or inconsistant? when is the last time you changed the plugs and wires.

There'* right and wrong parts. The wrong year for a 3800 will cause shaking. Been there..seen that.

Make sure he used the right one.. because you engine should not be shaking after replacing the balancer.

The old HB was destroyed.. and was making a horrible noise.. Got the new one that came with the pin..or clip. He said that at begining it was hard to remove. Then he replaced for the new one. So.. the shankingness was there the whole time.. but was not felt byt the old HB.

So, would this hurt the engine in any way.. the shaking?

What to do to fix it.. or don't mind it.

I vaguely remember when Boost had this problem. If I recall correctly, installing the wrong balancer can throw the ignition timing off.

I had this issue on my 95 ssei, series 1, It had something to do with the harmonic balancer it seemed to have separted at somepoint, I had a really bad rough idle, the mechanics at the GM dealer thought it was 1 injector, they replaced the balancer and I have been good to go

I think you're remembering when boost installed his flywheel wrong and it was shaking the heck outta the car.

(back on topic)

Definitely take it back and tell him is seriously wrong.
