Just out of curiosity, what is a "fine thread" in a metric bolt. M6x1.0 ? I need to scrounge up a couple to pull the balancer on my LN3 and try to install the double-row balancer I need to run the SC.

Ok.. who'* ready on this one.

Advance aka Parts America Chain/checker etc...

Their computers show for the SC engines in 93 one balancer, 94...3 balancers, 95 two....

93 covers 93 and 94 Dorman 594-161
94...none are right except the dorman
95.. it'* right for 95...not compatible with 94 or 93.

The bolts you need for the balancer pulling are M6 x 1.0 x at least 60mm.

The 1.0 describes the pitch of the threads...aka..fine

Well you'll know once you install it. I'd compare both before installing.

Car drove like crap this morning to work. Started smelling a nasty smoky smell at a red light. It was my car. I don't know what it was, maybe just the shot rubber on the HB. But I held 50mph at times and was getting 1-2psi of boost. Not right. It felt like I didn't have much power. I just hope this isn't some other big problem.

Well I know on mine it was ok at speed but at idle it sounded like metal banging or LOUD rattling and it would make an aditional bang or clunk (whatever) after I shut the key off.

Yeah, that'* pretty much it. It'* a loud rattling or clattering noise, metal on metal sounding. It goes away if you give it some gas. Above 2000 rpms I can't hear the noise on mine.

It'* easy to see though by taking off the right wheel and plastic splash guard. The balancer is right there. It'* not a huge problem, and not hard at all to change (took me and Bill 10 minutes last night to reinstall the old one). You just have to get the right one, that'* the hardest part.
