Default Harmonic Balancer

I have a minor rattle during idle that get louder the lower the RPMs drop. When I turn the car off it clunks pretty good for a split second. I bet if my idle were to drop to uder 600rpms the sound would get kinda nasty. Willwren told me it is probably the harmonic balancer because the sound is at the bottom right of the engine as i'm looking at it. What is involved in having that replaced and how much does it cost? The engine is strong and smooth during acceleration but does burn a bit of oil.

Should not be too hard if you have the right tools. I think the part is around $100. Search this forum for harmonic balancer. There might be techinfo on replacing it too. I'm guessing a garage would do for $200 ?

I had a huge chunk of my balancer missing for about a month and i didn't have any noises, but at certian rpms on the highway i noticed vibration coming from the engine.
