EBCM or EBCTM failures are so rare, I've never seen one yet, but in your case, I'd bet we're looking at one.

*wipes the snow off*

i changed out the EBTCM, still have the lights on. i havent been back to the dealer to have it rescanned to find out what were real codes, but i wanted to know what the input/output valves are? i can afford to replace WSS'* but anything more like PMV and such im not going to mess with. i'll just let it be dead..

The valves are in the PMV. That'* what'* wrong with my 93, as well as 2 WSS. I let mine be dead. Going on 2 years now. I don't miss either function.

Alot depends on the mode of failure, and what the EBCM percieves as the problem. Some things will take out TC, but not ABS, some things will take out both. Typically when ABS goes, it takes TC with it regardless.

The PMV valves will open and supply pressurized brake fluid to the slipping wheel (the round body on the PMV is the pump motor). The valves for the ABS are seperate.

Abs went out in my corsica . It wasn't that bad drive in the winter, just give you more braking distance and to pump the brakes. Actual on the corsica abs would work on and off, due computer problem I believe. The dealer couldn't pull any codes off it on abs or on engine sensors.

Ouch. A buddy of mine at work with a 92 SE had huge problems with his. When he bought the car the ABS light was on, but it passed inspection. After a few months the front left and rear right brakes stopped working. To fix this he replaced:

ABS Pump
All 4 wheel speed sensors
Master Cylinder
...something else I cant remember.

Runs great now though! lol.

PS. I'm trying to get him to join the forums here.

I had my 93 scanned not by a GM dealer but by a local mechanic specializing in GM vehicles. He said that his machine would not even communicate with the module. It kept prompting him to "turn ignition on". He also suspected a faulty EBTCM. Every now and then, the light will actually turn OFF. Not 100% sure that he had the right equipment but he came highly recommended for GM vehicles.
