Default Groan when taking off from a dead stop

After sitting in slow, foot-on-the-brake traffic for an hour, my car started groaning when taking off a stop. No noise after that, drives and shifts fine. Thoughts?

When I get home, I'll pop the wheels off and check things out.

They seemed fine at NEBF last Saturday, but I'll check again.

My co-worker (the one with 26 years of speed shop ownership under his belt) looked at it. Of course, I couldn't replicate the issue. I noticed that the brake fluid was a little low, enough to blink the brake light when SLAMMING on the pedal at 40 mph. The drive home, and the drive to Hartford (15 miles) was equally uneventful.

I'll keep an eye on it.

It was sick of all the stop and go, and was getting tired and complaining.

Stop on a downward slope, then slowly take your foot off the brake. The brakes will groan just before the car starts to inch forward. (The brakes' version of "I can't hold it anymore!") That was the same sound. Still can't replicate the original issue, lucky me I suppose.

Best guess: brakes got too hot and something stuck (caliper?) I suppose I'll top off the brake fluid and check the lines when it'* new pad time.
