Girlfriend has been drivng the car and about a week and a half ago it died on her at a remote location from my house. It would start but wouldn't maintain idle and it gave the P0101 and P0102 codes. I cleaned up the MAF (which was replaced less than a year ago) and it started up but did not idle. I drove it home by using the accelerator to roughly maintain idle. By the time I got home, it kept idle by itself with no problem. The car was used until last night when it began to die on her when she hits the brakes. I drove the car last night to the local Advance Auto (it did bog down on braking) & put the Diagnostic tool to it and got the P0102 code. However driving back home it didn't display any idle problem and did not die on me... I'm a little puzzled over what it may be. Any ideas on the cause.
Dan has a couple writeups in our TechInfo section. Give these 2 a read and we'll go from there...

Start it up and then tap on the MAF. If it stumbles the MAF is bad and needs to be replaced. Unplug the MAF and start it up. It will stumble a bit then settle down. You will get a SES light but it should idle smooth, if it does, the MAF is the problem.

Did both and it passed both tests. Actually, when I unplugged the MAF, it ran smoothly and did not even stumble. What do you think?
